Masters of the Streets | Ciudad de los Vientos
Kinto Sol
Chicago, Illinois - BrownPride.com was representing in Chicago, IL on the 15th and 16th of October. We where covering not only the biggest indoor lowrider show in the world, but also a great concert as well.
The show got underway on Saturday evening we had a chance to check out all the local low rider cars, street customs, and lowrider bicycles. Chicago not only had what you expect at a low rider event, but they also threw in some new Midwest twist into the mix. We of course enjoy the traditional lowrider Impala’s cruising on 13 inch Daytons, but we also got to see some cars with large DUB style rims, one custom car even had 28 inch rims on it.
Saturday night was the Freestyle part of the concert. Cynthia performed her hits, as well as Rochelle. The crowd was also feeling Lissette Melendez. These female artists were all top names in the Freestyle scene and are keeping the old school dance classics alive.
Sunday’s part of the event was off the hook. We had a great line up of some of the biggest Latino hip-hop acts today. With great acts like legendary DJ/Rapero David Rolas, Crooked Stilo, and Baby Bash had the crowd feeding off their positive energy all night. The crowd generated the most electricity when hometown heroes Kinto Sol and San Diego-based rapper Lil Rob grabbed the microphones.
Kinto Sol proved that even though they are from Milwaukee, The city of Chicago is their home away from home. They had the crowd going crazy, especially when performing their hit single “Hecho En Mexico” were they had the crowd yelling out M-E-X-I-C-O!
Lil Rob
Ese Lil Rob, what can we say about Lil Rob? He is having the best year of his decade long career. Just like the Low rider show in Las Vegas, the Latin Rap Conference in New York City (check out the video of that in our video section), he put on a great performance in Chi-Town. He performed a few of his neighborhood classics, as well as Chicago’s current number one hit “Summer Nights”.
All in all, the Masters of the Streets was a great two day event for all that attended. Where else can Chi-Town locals be able to experience great low riders, firme hynas, and great freestyle and Latino hip-hop music all in the same spot.
We want to thank Jorge Ortega for inviting us to cover the show BP.com style. We loved it, and we hope this becomes an annual event for us. We also want to thank the Kinto Sol familia for their hospitality and special thanks to our big homie Ivan aka Flaco for being our tour guide and showing us the brown side of Chicago!
Much Respect,
