Krazy Race and Latino Resource Center (C.S.U.) | Oct. 10th Chicago, Illinois

On Friday October 10, 2008, the Latino Resource Center and Chicago State University along with Realizm Rekords invites all to a one-time only event featuring legendary underground MC Krazy Race (New World Games, The Movement and The World is Ours, vol. 1) and Dr. Pancho McFarland, author of Chicano Rap: Gender and Violence in the Postindustrial Barrio. For the first time ever, the emcee and the scholar put their heads together to examine the state of hip hop, music, Chicana/os and Latina/os, the state of our world and revolutionary social change. Join Krazy Race, Dr. McFarland, the Latino Resource Center, and the Chicago State University community for two important events. Beginning at noon Dr. McFarland delivers a talk about his book, hip hop activism and the importance of underground artists such as Krazy Race and Realizm Rekords, Kemo the Blaxican and Dead Silence, Psycho Realm and the Sick Side Army as well as Indigenous and conscious emcees. Then, Krazy Race turns the heat up with a short set. Later, author and emcee address questions from the crowd and sign books, cds and dvds. As night falls we will do it again. Dr. McFarland will address the crowd and prepare them for a blazing show. This time Krazy Race performs a full set featuring his underground classics such as “Dedicated,” “Illuminati,” and “Brick City to LA Times.” Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to experience hip hop in its most raw and elevated form.
