Los Fabulosos Cadillacs
GRAMMY-winning rock icons Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are proud to announce
their first career concert in London. The band will make their London debut on
April 29th at Troxy and will also play Spain’s Vina del Rock Festival on May
1st. While the Cadillacs, have always been heavily influenced by British new
wave music, recorded with The Clash’s Mick Jones and toured Europe in the past,
they have never played a concert in London. The group is currently wrapping up a
world tour that has sold one million tickets in less than 50 dates since 2008.
The Cadillacs’ early 2009 release ‘La Luz Del Ritmo’ was nominated for a
GRAMMY in the “Best Latin Alternative, Rock Or Urban Album” category. Their late
2009 release ‘El Arte De La Elegancia’ was featured on a variety of year-end
“Best of Lists.” The Village Voice said that the album “proves that, 25 years
later, these guys still kick ass” while the Chicago Sun Times said that the
Cadillacs have “reminded us of what we had missed.”
‘El Arte De La
Elegancia’ features the track, “Vamos Ya,” a new take on Curtis Mayfield’s
classic “Move On Up.” While the Cadillacs first began covering “Move On Up” at
live shows in 1987, this is the first time that the track was recorded in the
studio.
The album also includes a collection of fresh takes on the
band’s rarities in addition to two new tracks (“Siete Jinetes” y “Lanzallamas”).
“We've been searching for songs that represent the ‘B-side’ of LFC,” explains
saxophonist Sergio Rotman. “They are the songs that we ‘lost’ amidst the madness
and the band’s extensive discography. These are songs that were never played on
the radio and we simply enjoyed re-visiting them again.”
“We are playing
many shows these days so we didn’t have time to write an album of entirely new
songs,” lead singer Vicentico adds. “But we wanted to enter the studio and leave
a record for how the band is sounding right now. So we decided on tracks that we
have rarely played in the past – songs that deserve the attention. We spent a
lot of time in the studio working on these re-interpretations and quickly became
excited at the new power that we have as a group.”
Nacional Records also
recently released a new Fabulosos Cadillacs tribute album. ‘A Tribute To Los
Fabulosos Cadillacs: Vos Sabes... Como Te Esperaba’ features new versions of
classic Cadillacs tracks by a variety of leading Latin alternative artists
including Colombian music icons Aterciopelados, Tijuana’s electronica stars
Nortec Collective, Puerto Rican reggae masters Cultura Profetica and Venezuelan
disco funk rockers Los Amigos Invisibles.
